Play a key role in shaping the future of a modern data platform.

Drive a major Databricks migration and support wider technology and business transformation initiatives.

Up to £85,000 plus bonus, up to 11% pension contribution and a comprehensive benefits package.

We’re recruiting for a Data Engineering Lead to join a market-leading Bristol-based organisation at an exciting stage of its data transformation journey.

What you’ll be doing
This is a highly visible role sitting within the Data & Insight function, where you’ll lead a small but talented team of Data Engineers whilst helping to shape the future direction of the organisation’s data capabilities. You’ll play a key role in modernising the data platform, influencing technical decisions and ensuring the delivery of trusted, scalable data solutions that support business growth.

Alongside team leadership, you’ll remain close to the technology, helping to solve complex engineering challenges and drive engineering best practices across the function; you’ll provide technical leadership across the data engineering estate, ensuring data platforms and pipelines remain scalable, secure and reliable while supporting the evolving needs of the business. A major focus of the role will be leading the migration from an existing data warehouse to Databricks, whilst also supporting a range of wider transformation and integration programmes.

The role is based in Bristol, close to Temple Meads, with a hybrid working model requiring 2-3 days per week in the office.

What experience you’ll need

  • Experience leading and developing Data Engineering teams within complex organisations
  • Strong hands-on experience building and operating modern cloud-based data platforms
  • Excellent SQL and Python skills
  • Strong experience with Databricks
  • A solid understanding of data engineering, modelling and architecture best practices
  • Experience delivering data solutions that support reporting, analytics and data science
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery
  • Experience of technology transformation, platform modernisation or large-scale migration projects would be beneficial
  • Exposure to Tableau and integration platforms such as SnapLogic would be advantageous

What you’ll get in return for your exeprience
You’ll receive a salary of up to £85,000 alongside a discretionary annual bonus and an excellent benefits package; benefits include 25 days’ holiday plus the option to buy additional leave, a generous pension scheme with employer contributions of up to 11%, enhanced family leave policies, healthcare and wellbeing support, life assurance, a ShareSave scheme and a range of additional employee discounts and benefits.

What’s next?
If this sounds like the challenge you’ve been looking for, we’d love to hear from you. Apply with your CV or get in touch for a confidential discussion about the opportunity.
