We’re an award-winning consultancy known for delivering exceptional products and services through technology. We work closely with organisations to help them accelerate value delivery and create outstanding customer experiences. Our purpose is simple: to empower organisations to make a real difference for people, society, and the planet through technology that’s efficient, user-friendly, and solves problems fast.

At Burendo, we believe that together, we can achieve incredible things.

What sets us apart is how we work. We pride ourselves on having a pragmatic attitude to delivery—we think big, plan practically, adapt quickly, and always focus on results, no matter how complex the challenge. We’re passionate about making great things happen by embracing innovation, challenging the status quo, and fostering collaboration at every step. At Burendo, caring for people is at the heart of what we do. We value partnerships, listen to different viewpoints, and believe in treating everyone fairly. And, we love to share what we learn—using our expertise to help others grow and empowering organisations to succeed in the long term.

Requirements

These are the things we value most at Burendo, we can teach skills, but our behaviours forge the culture we strive for.

A passion for engineering and a desire to keep learning
A focus on writing clear, concise infrastructure and configuration code that is easy to maintain
An ability to be pragmatic when required and avoid unnecessary over-engineering
An understanding that quality is everyone’s responsibility, including in infrastructure and automation
Comfortable working with others in pairing or mobbing scenarios
A good communicator who shares our values of openness and respect
A true DevOps mentality – you don’t want to chuck code over the fence, and you’re keen to be involved right through to delivering solutions to the customer
A desire to build up and see others succeed, rather than wanting to be the Hero
A curious and discerning approach to new technology, including AI: open to adopting new tools, while applying sound judgement and taking responsibility for outcomes

The must haves:

Hands-on experience designing, deploying, and managing AWS infrastructure — including EC2, VPC networking, S3 and EBS storage, and IAM
Strong working knowledge of AWS services such as ECS or EKS, Lambda, RDS, and S3
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline
Solid understanding of cloud security, governance, and compliance
Experience monitoring and optimising cloud environments
Experience supporting application migrations or modernisation initiatives, including on-premises to AWS
A good understanding of and experience working with agile methodologies
Experience working in and supporting live production environments
Understanding of and working experience with source control, particularly Git
Experience with database technologies of some flavour

And it would be great if you have any of these:

Experience using AI coding assistants, such as Claude, GitHub Copilot or Cursor, to help write and review infrastructure as code, pipelines and scripts, with appropriate human review before anything is deployed
Experience of agentic coding tools, such as Claude Code, within a team workflow, including defining project guidance and conventions for the tool to follow
Experience of using AI to support operations, such as troubleshooting incidents, analysing logs and alerts, or drafting runbooks and documentation
Experience implementing backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions using AWS-native services
