Grounds Apprentice in United Kingdom
Lichfield Cathedral School
- Full-timeStandard weekly hours
United Kingdom
GROUNDS APPRENTICE
Immediate Start Available
We are looking for a hardworking Grounds Apprentice to join our Facilities team. The key function of this role is to ensure that the school site is maintained to an excellent standard, to provide a professional and attractive impression to all visitors, parents, staff and pupils. This will include the garden areas throughout the school site, and the school playing fields.
Whilst completing the apprenticeship, the successful candidate will study towards a Level 2 Horticulture and Landscaping Operative. This programme is designed to equip aspiring professionals with the expertise needed to shape, maintain, and enhance outdoor environments. You will combine hands-on experience across our school sites, with in-depth theoretical training, and gain the skills needed to work in a diverse and growing industry.
The role will be based largely at our Lichfield site, although your own transport would be an advantage as there could be occasions where you would be asked to work at our Junior School site at Longdon, where the children study a ‘Growing Minds’ base of study which extensively uses outside areas.
The role will require you to have good communication skills, be able to work on your own initiative and have good attention to detail. You should possess the ability to work across different working patterns to meet the busy life of the school (which may include occasional weekend work).
All applications should include a letter of support and full contact details of at least two referees (including email addresses). Any gaps in career history need to be clarified on the application form, and any relevant details be given.
If you are interested in applying for this position, full details may be obtained on the School’s website, where you can apply via our portal, or you can apply via TES or the Government Apprentice website.
The closing date for applications is Friday 13th November 2026, with interviews soon after.
Lichfield Cathedral School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all applicants will be subject to DBS disclosure in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice.
