Vacancy description
Ashville College
North Yorks, United Kingdom
Ashville College seeks to appoint a new Head from September 2027. This important appointment will succeed Rhiannon Wilkinson, whose visionary leadership has strengthened the College’s position as one of the leading independent schools in the North of England.
Founded in 1877 and set on a beautiful 70-acre campus in Harrogate, Ashville educates pupils from Early Years through to Sixth Form. With the stunning Yorkshire Dales nearby, the College welcomes pupils from an array of backgrounds while remaining rooted in its Methodist origins. Ashville is distinguished by its strong sense of community, excellent pastoral care, and commitment to developing confident, well-rounded young people who are fully equipped with the skills necessary to navigate life beyond school.
The College has undergone significant transformation in recent years. Pupil numbers have grown, academic outcomes have improved significantly, and Ashville has successfully enhanced its positioning across the region. Looking to the future with ambition and optimism, the College builds on a successful transition away from boarding, continued investment in the campus, and a sustained focus on pupil wellbeing. In addition to its high academic standards, Ashville is recognised for the breadth of its co-curricular programme. Sport, music, drama, and a wide range of clubs and societies play a central role in College life, reflecting a holistic educational philosophy that values character, leadership, and service as highly as examination success.
With a clear sense of purpose and considerable momentum, the College now seeks a new Head to lead its next phase of development. Reporting to a supportive and engaged Governing Body, the Head will be responsible for shaping and delivering a compelling strategic vision, while preserving the distinctive values, culture and community spirit that define Ashville. The successful candidate will be an outstanding educational leader with the intellectual credibility, warmth and personal presence to inspire pupils, staff, parents and governors alike. They will demonstrate strategic judgement alongside commercial awareness, possessing the leadership skills required to guide the school into its next chapter.
