In this hands-on and varied role, you will be the go-to technical expert for staff and students, ensuring that our classrooms, modern network infrastructure, and digital learning tools operate seamlessly every day in a scenic rural setting.
Working under the direction of the Network Manager, the IT Technician will provide first- and second-line technical support across the academy. You will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, maintain device inventories, set up audio-visual equipment, and help drive digital learning initiatives forward.
Helpdesk & Incident Support: Diagnose and resolve 1st and 2nd-line hardware, software, network, and printer faults logged via the internal helpdesk system.
Hardware & Device Maintenance: Image, configure, and repair desktop PCs, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, and interactive classroom touchscreens.
Network & Account Administration: Manage Active Directory / Google Workspace user accounts, password resets, email distribution lists, and basic network permissions.
AV & Classroom Tech Setup: Support teachers with audio-visual equipment, projectors, video conferencing tools, and presentation setups for daily lessons and school events.
Software Deployment: Install, update, and manage educational software packages and licenses across school workstations using deployment tools.
Asset Management & Documentation: Keep the hardware asset register up to date, manage IT consumable stock, and maintain clear internal technical documentation.
Tech-Driven Environment: A modern secondary academy set in a beautiful village location that heavily invests in cutting-edge classroom technology.
Competitive Salary: A stable annual salary of £26,000 – £31,000 (dependent on relevant technical certifications and experience).
Contract & Benefits: Full-time, year-round contract featuring regular working hours, generous holiday allowance, and a robust local government pension scheme.
Perks & Career Growth: Free on-site staff parking, alongside structured training paths for network and systems administration certifications.
Technical Background: Proven experience working in a dedicated IT support role, helpdesk environment, or school technical team.
Core IT Knowledge: Solid troubleshooting skills across Windows OS, macOS, ChromeOS, Microsoft 365 / Google Workspace, and basic TCP/IP networking concepts.
Problem-Solving Mindset: A logical, methodical approach to diagnosing technical issues with a strong customer-service orientation.
Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, patient, and able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical teachers and students.
Compliance Requirement: An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a readiness to complete a clearance process prior to starting).
