Keen to join a company that champions growth and development?

Join a specialist data centre thermal monitoring and optimisation business whose machine learning platform, built by PhD-level thermodynamic experts, helps data centres reduce thermal risk, release cooling capacity, and cut cooling costs. Combining advanced sensing, data analytics, and expert services, it keeps facilities finely tuned and operating at peak performance.

The organization is expanding its team and is looking to appoint a Project Engineer to join its integration team on a permanent, remote basis. The ideal candidate will connect the company’s software platform to critical infrastructure in data centres and commercial facilities, taking each integration from technical discovery through to full commissioning across BACnet, Modbus, and SNMP protocols. The role involves working directly with customers, controls contractors, and internal product teams, and junior to mid-level candidates are welcome, with training available.

Ready to take your expertise to the next level? Get in touch today!

Responsibilities:

  • Leading technical discovery with customers including reviewing BMS, EPMS, and network topology to define integration scope
  • Configuring and commissioning integrations using BACnet (IP and MS/TP), Modbus (TCP and RTU), and SNMP
  • Building and validating point mappings including scaling, units, data types, byte and word order, and naming conventions
  • Troubleshooting communication issues using protocol analysers and diagnostic tools including Wireshark, YABE, Modbus Poll, and MIB browsers
  • Working with third-party controls specialists, M&E contractors, and customer IT and OT teams on network access, firewall rules, and device configuration
  • Producing integration documentation including points schedules, network diagrams, as-builts, and commissioning reports
  • Feeding field experience back to internal Product and Engineering teams to improve connectors, templates, and deployment processes
  • Supporting post-deployment issues and escalations from the Customer Success team

Skills/Must Have:

  • Experience integrating BMS, BAS, EPMS, or DCIM systems in data centre, mission-critical, or commercial building environments
  • Working knowledge of BACnet: object types, device discovery, COV subscriptions, and MS/TP-to-IP routing
  • Working knowledge of Modbus TCP/RTU: register types, function codes, addressing offsets, gateways, and data encoding
  • Working knowledge of SNMP: MIBs, OIDs, GET/WALK operations, traps, and SNMPv3 authentication
  • Solid IP networking fundamentals: subnetting, VLANs, routing, and OT firewall basics
  • Ability to read electrical single-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, and controls submittals
  • Strong written communication and documentation habits
  • Customer-facing confidence - comfortable on site walks, in comms rooms, and on calls with customer facilities teams
  • Unrestricted right to work and business travel in the UK and EU without employer sponsorship
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to obtain BPSS or SC clearance where required

Desirable Skills:

  • Tridium Niagara certification or experience with supervisory platforms including Trend IQ/963, Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure, Honeywell, or Cylon
  • ECS or CSCS card for site access
  • M-Bus, MQTT/Sparkplug B, REST APIs, or Redfish experience
  • Scripting or low-code experience: Python, Node-RED, or JavaScript
  • DCIM platform experience: Schneider, Vertiv, Sunbird, or Nlyte
  • Data centre cooling and power concepts: PUE, airflow management, redundancy

Benefits:

  • £30,000 - £40,000 base salary
  • Fully remote working with UK site travel and agreed international travel to Europe and US
  • Working within a growing, investor-backed business at the forefront of data centre thermal optimisation
  • Genuine development opportunity - the business is actively investing in less experienced engineers
  • Varied technical exposure across protocols, customer environments, and critical infrastructure types
  • Permanent role within a specialist, mission-critical technology business

Salary:

  • £30,000 - £40,000
