Salary: £? - ? per year Requirements:

• Strong backend development experience with Java.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing scalable, resilient, loosely coupled microservices, including service-to-service communication.
• Strong RESTful API design skills, including API contracts, versioning, and integration patterns.
• Experience with JUnit automated unit testing.
• Experience working with JSON API data structures and formats.
• Experience containerising microservices with Docker.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing microservices with Kubernetes.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, version control, and automated build and deployment pipelines.
• Desirable: experience with JPA/Hibernate, Kibana, Maven/Gradle, Mockito, AWS, GitLab, Helm, OpenAPI/Swagger, SQL, or shell scripting.
• Availability to start during the week commencing 4 January 2027.

• Design, develop, test, and deploy Java-based RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Use approved AI tools and agents throughout the backend development lifecycle, including analysis and technical design, code generation, automated testing, debugging, code review, and refinement.

We are recruiting a Senior Java Backend Developer for a major application modernisation programme for a Central Government client. The 12-month contract is based in Telford, with a minimum of two days per month onsite and the remaining time remote. The rate is £550 per day, and the role is inside IR35.
