Horsham, United Kingdom

Envitia is a UK-based software and services company that helps organisations unlock the full value of their data to make better, faster decisions. With over 30 years of experience, we specialise in delivering innovative software products, solutions, and consultancy services that transform complex data challenges into actionable insights.

Our mission is to empower customers across defence, government, and national security sectors to harness the power of data — from geospatial intelligence to advanced analytics and AI integration. We are proud to be a trusted partner to UK defence and government organisations, delivering technology that drives smarter, data-driven outcomes.

We’re also delighted to have been named one of The Sunday Times Top 100 Medium-Sized Companies — a recognition of our commitment to innovation, collaboration, and creating an outstanding workplace where people can thrive.

The Role

As a Solution Architect at Envitia, you will play a key role in designing and delivering innovative, data-centric solutions for Defence and Central Government customers. Working within our Consulting team, you will be responsible for shaping end-to-end solutions that combine Envitia’s products and services with leading commercial technologies and frameworks to solve complex customer challenges.

You'll also work closely with our Business Development and Sales teams, providing technical leadership throughout the pre-sales lifecycle. This includes developing solution approaches, producing technical proposals, and supporting the creation of cost and effort estimates for customer opportunities.

We're looking for someone with strong experience delivering technology solutions within the Defence and/or Central Government sectors. You'll be passionate about solving complex problems, engaging with customers and helping organisations unlock greater value from their data.

Responsibilities

As a Solution Architect at Envitia, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative, scalable solutions that help our clients solve complex business and technical challenges. Working closely with customers, delivery teams and stakeholders, you will:

  • Engage with customers to understand business needs, analyse requirements, and translate them into practical and effective technical solutions.
  • Develop technical strategies, architectural roadmaps and advisory artefacts that support organisational transformation and technology adoption.
  • Lead the design and delivery of modern solution architectures, leveraging a range of commercial technologies, frameworks and cloud platforms.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers and developers to ensure solutions are successfully implemented and aligned with customer objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout solution reviews, ensuring designs meet client expectations, industry best practice and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the development of Envitia’s managed service offerings and reusable solution capabilities across our customer base.
  • Research emerging technologies, market trends and industry developments, identifying opportunities to enhance our services and create new offerings.
  • Produce solution cost models, business cases and risk assessments to support customer decision-making and investment planning.
  • Develop robust estimates covering the full solution lifecycle, including design, delivery, transition, operation, maintenance and exit considerations.

Experience Required

  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale solution architectures.
  • Experience gathering and managing both functional and non-functional requirements and translating them into practical, scalable solution designs.
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms, ideally AWS or Azure.
  • Broad technical knowledge spanning both modern and legacy technology environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage audiences ranging from technical specialists to senior decision-makers.

Desirable

  • A strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and modelling approaches such as TOGAF, ArchiMate or Zachman.
  • Strong experience working within Defence and/or Central Government organisations. Knowledge of GDS standards and government delivery frameworks.
  • Previous involvement in pre-sales activities, including shaping solution approaches, developing technical proposals, estimating delivery effort and presenting solutions to prospective clients.

Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the nature of our work, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain SC security clearance.

Location

This role offers flexible and remote working, with travel to our Horsham office approximately two days per month and occasional travel to customer sites across the UK as required.
