Technical Program Manager – Contract

Location: UK – Remote
Contract: Initial 12 months, with potential extension
Day Rate: £280 - £375 per day inside IR35 (via Trust in SODA)
Start Date: ASAP – November 2026

The Opportunity
  • We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and collaborative Technical Program Manager to join an eDiscovery & Information Governance team within a global organisation's Legal function.
  • This role sits at the intersection of program strategy and technical execution, supporting global litigation, regulatory, and information governance matters, as well as the data science and AI initiatives that power them.
  • The ideal candidate combines strong program management discipline with genuine technical fluency. You are comfortable owning a portfolio of concurrent workstreams, zooming in and out between day-to-day case work and long-range roadmap planning, and connecting the dots across teams to drive efficiency, alignment, and results.
  • You can write and run your own SQL queries, reason about tooling and development lifecycles, and translate between technical practitioners and legal or business stakeholders.
  • You bring intellectual curiosity, a bias toward building durable processes rather than one-off fixes, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment while partnering proactively with legal, product, data science, and operations teams across the organisation.
Top 3 Skills
  • Hands-on SQL and tooling lifecycle ownership — able to independently write and run SQL queries and manage development and tooling lifecycles. Not oversight-level only; the role executes technical analysis directly.
  • 5+ years in technical program/project management, with that experience including direct support of eDiscovery, IG, or legal ops teams, in a high-stakes litigation, regulatory, or governance setting.
  • Scaled intake and cross-functional workflow ownership — proven track record managing complex intake processes and cross-functional workflows at scale, including building performance metrics and evaluation frameworks.
Key Responsibilities

Program strategy and roadmap
  • Partner with leads and cross functional teams to shape strategic plans and roadmaps, influencing team direction on technical, tooling, and process priorities
  • Analyze AI and technology trends across the company to originate and scope new initiatives for the team
  • Report on adjacent team efforts to inform roadmap decisions and avoid duplicated work

Program and project execution
  • Own end to end program and project plans with cross functional teams, defining and prioritizing requirements, tracking action items and milestones, and ensuring on time delivery of critical initiatives
  • Manage intake and triage for incoming requests, monitor progress through project management systems such as GSD and SDP, and proactively surface and clear blockers
  • Assign work, track milestones, and manage against firm submission and production deadlines
  • Provide regular status updates to internal partners, case teams, and Outside Counsel
Process, tooling, and technical delivery
  • Build and implement scalable, defensible playbooks, policies, workflows, tools, and templates that solve complex problems, manage risk, and increase operational value
  • Execute SQL queries and other technical analysis to support case work and program reporting
  • Drive enhancements to existing AI and eDiscovery tools, vet new tools with partner teams, and manage the lifecycle of apps, scripts, and internal tooling built by the team
  • Partner with product and subject matter experts to ensure methodologies are reviewed and approved, and draft supporting methodology documentation
Measurement and reporting
  • Build and maintain evaluation frameworks and performance metrics such as completion rates, turnaround times, and time spent blocked
  • Develop reporting and dashboards that make program health visible and drive continuous process improvement
Communication and influence
  • Distill complex technical and legal information into clear, concise communication for a wide range of stakeholders
  • Adapt to different working styles to build successful cross functional collaborations
  • Drive accountability across teams and stakeholders with little to no direct involvement from leadership
Essential Skills & Experience
  • BS/BA degree
  • 5+ years of experience in technical program or project management, including work supporting eDiscovery, information governance, or legal operations teams
  • Proven experience managing complex intake processes and cross functional workflows at scale
  • Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to write and run SQL queries and manage development and tooling lifecycles
  • Experience building performance metrics and evaluation frameworks
  • Experience building partnerships with a variety of in house and external cross functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience with project management tools and techniques
  • Experience supporting complex, high stakes global litigation, regulatory, or information governance matters
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into actionable plans and executive ready updates
  • Versatility to adapt quickly in a rapidly evolving environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working directly with data science or AI teams
  • In house technology company experience
  • Professional services or client consulting background
  • Experience with GSD, or comparable project management systems
  • PMP certification
  • Advanced degree
